Seller Terms & Conditions
Published in advance — takes effect at marketplace launch · Last updated: 12 June 2026 · Issued by BYSP INTERNET SERVICES LLP for Odisha Vastram
Odisha Vastram is currently in its pre-launch phase. This policy is published in advance so sellers, customers and partners can see exactly how the marketplace will operate. It becomes binding when marketplace transactions begin; the published version at that date governs.
These terms summarise the conditions for selling on Odisha Vastram. The complete, binding contract is the Marketplace Vendor Agreement (MVA), generated for your specific entity and signed electronically during onboarding — these public terms exist so you can understand the deal before you register. If anything here differs from your signed MVA, the MVA governs.
1. Who may sell
- Individuals (18+), sole proprietorships, partnership firms, LLPs, OPCs, companies, and registered artisan groups (co-operative societies, SHGs, FPOs, trusts, Section 8 companies).
- All sellers complete identity, business and bank verification before listing. Verification uses official government records plus human document review.
- GST registration is required only where the law requires it of you; below the statutory turnover threshold you may sell on the GST-exempt path. The platform discharges the statutory collection obligations that apply to marketplace operators.
2. The managed marketplace model
You control: your products, inventory, packaging and dispatch.
The platform controls: the storefront, customer relationships, pricing display, courier logistics, payment processing, settlements, customer support, dispute decisions, and tax compliance. Customer contact details are masked; all customer communication flows through the platform. Soliciting or accepting off-platform payment from platform customers is a serious violation (see Section 8).
3. Pricing rules
- You set the selling price for your products; it is agreed with you and is not changed without your consent.
- Your MRP must genuinely exceed the final customer price — artificial MRPs to fake discounts are prohibited.
- The customer-facing price presented by the platform is inclusive; additions made by the platform for the customer are never deducted from your agreed amounts.
- Accurate weight and dimensions are mandatory on every listing; repeated discrepancies against courier measurements are treated as violations.
4. Platform Fee (Commission) and statutory deductions
- The platform charges a Platform Fee (Commission) on each completed sale, at the rate set out in your Marketplace Vendor Agreement and explained to you in writing during onboarding. Reduced event rates may apply to campaigns you opt into.
- GST applies on the Platform Fee as required by law, invoiced to you with a proper tax invoice.
- Statutory deductions required of marketplace operators (income-tax TDS and GST TCS) are deducted and deposited against your PAN/GSTIN as the law prescribes — you claim credit in your returns, and prescribed certificates are issued to you on schedule.
- There are no registration fees, listing fees or monthly charges.
5. Settlements
- Customer payments are processed through secure, RBI-regulated payment systems; your earnings are settled directly to your verified bank account.
- An order becomes settlement-eligible once delivered and past its return window with no open dispute. Settlements run on a regular, published cycle communicated during onboarding.
- Every settlement carries a clear statement itemising your earnings and all deductions, per order.
- Reasonable anti-fraud verification holds may apply to a new seller’s initial orders — a measure that protects the whole seller community.
- Where a refund follows an already-settled order, or amounts are otherwise recoverable, adjustments are carried into subsequent settlements with caps designed so that deductions never wipe out a payout.
6. Packaging Video Verification (PVV)
- Every order requires one continuous, unedited video showing the product clearly, the packing process, and the sealed parcel with its label — uploaded promptly after the order, before dispatch.
- A clear PVV is your shield: product-mismatch claims are rejected when the video shows the correct item properly packed.
- Missing, unclear or manipulated videos forfeit that protection and are treated as violations.
- Orders must be dispatched within the handover window communicated in your seller panel.
7. Returns and disputes
- Customers may return only for verified reasons: wrong product, transit damage, packaging-fault damage, or significant difference from listing. Change-of-mind is not accepted.
- Every claim is investigated against the PVV and courier evidence before any decision; fault is assigned to seller, courier, customer or platform accordingly.
- Where the fault is not yours, you keep your payout. Where it is, the refund and the applicable consequence under the published framework apply.
8. Violations, suspension and appeals
A published framework of consequences protects customers and honest sellers — covering matters such as missing packaging videos, late dispatch, wrong or missing items, poor packaging, counterfeit goods and off-platform dealing. The schedule of amounts and thresholds is provided to you during onboarding and in your seller panel.
- Every action against your account appears on your dashboard the moment it is created, with its reason and evidence.
- You always have a published appeal window, and appeals are decided with written reasons.
- Serious violations (counterfeit goods, off-platform transactions, fraud) lead to immediate suspension review.
9. Listing standards
- Listings must depict your actual product with original images meeting category photo standards; watermarks of other platforms are rejected automatically.
- Craft attributions (e.g. handwoven, GI-tagged) must be truthful; GI claims require authorised-user proof.
- The Restricted Products Policy applies to every listing.
10. Exit
You may stop selling at any time: pending orders must be completed, after which final settlement is processed on the normal cycle and your listings are retired. The platform may suspend or terminate accounts for verified violations under the MVA, always with the appeal rights described above.
